Remember the “dad bod?” No? Well, allow us to give you a refresher:

Dad bod /n/; body shape particular to middle-aged men; slightly round body shape found in men who are already married with kids, who no longer need to care about maintaining a sculpted physique

Got the picture? If the dad bod is all about comfort and lax standards, society’s idea of the mom bod is anything but. While the internet was quick to celebrate and even swoon over the dad bod, women are still expected to meet out-of-touch and often unhealthy beauty standards. Thanks to TV and supermodels with rigid trainers, many expect moms’ bodies to bounce back to their pre-baby versions before they even leave the hospital.

Ridiculous, we know. That’s where Whitney Dwyer comes in. Dwyer is the creator of MyPostBabyBody.org, a body-positive website that encourages mothers to embrace their post-baby bodies by posting pictures of themselves wearing lingerie.

According to the video, Dwyer, who was slim for most of her life, found herself struggling with her own post-baby body. She would strategically place her kids in front of her in photos. She even Googled “post-baby bodies” and “postpartum bodies,” but all she found were workout programs and tips for improvement; there wasn’t anything celebrating the post-baby bodies women already had.

Dwyer led the charge as the first model on the website, and now she’s proud of her body and is determined to flaunt it.
