Nurse Witnesses Mentally Disturbed Mom Biting Newborn Son

Cannibalism seems to only exist in horror films and our nightmares, but when nurses and doctors went to check up on a mother and her newborn, they were astounded to find that cannibalism was quite the reality.

The woman was found biting her son, just days after his birth. Doctors and nurses had to forcibly remove the 24-year-old mother’s incisors from the infant’s arm by inserting a contraption to prevent her from closing her teeth, and then sedating her.

Covered with bite marks on his palm and back of his hand, the crying baby was rushed into emergency care to be treated.

Prior to the birth, the mother was found pregnant on the street but was coherent, sane, and friendly. Since the incident, she has been suspected of suffering from postpartum depression, and/or other mental illnesses.

What’s your opinion on this tragedy? Should the mother be incarcerated, or should she receive help from a mental hospital?
